Following the success of the Book Festival’s cover designs in recent years the Festival is again looking for a local artist to create a new original work to be auctioned at the Festival and to be the cover of their 2025 Festival Brochure.

The winner/winning art will:

• Be featured on the front cover of the Appledore Book Festival 2025 Events Brochure

       (5,000+ printed copies)

• Appear on the Appledore Book Festival website & on social media platforms

• Be on display at the art exhibition and for auction during the Festival in September 2025

       Proceeds to be split 60:40 (Artist/Festival)

• Get free entry for up to 3 additional ‘ready to hang’ works in the ArtMakers Festival Art Exhibition

• Be included in ArtMakers virtual gallery until end of September 2025

• Be promoted throughout local galleries and art organisations Guidelines & criteria:

• Artists must live or work in Torridge or North Devon

• Submitted art needs to reflect the Festival’s coastal location

• Final artwork must be at least 50cm x 50cm and framed/ready to hang.

• Final artwork for auction may be in any format (landscape, portrait, or square) BUT artists are asked to bear in mind that the Festival Brochure requires a square image for the Book Festival header and footer. This square may be the full design for the final artwork or it may be an extract from a landscape or portrait work.

• NOTE: The Festival reserves the right to crop work to the required proportions and artists are therefore asked to bear in mind the brochure requirements as part of the concept design.

 

Please submit your outline idea by email in the form of:

• a sketch concept proposal, with

• your vision of how your concept can be used for the Brochure cover and

• at least 1 example of a finished work in a similar style to your concept idea.

• Concept Proposal Deadline: Sunday 6th April 2025 (Midnight)

• Notification of ABF Decision: by Wednesday 16th April 2025 at the latest

• Finished Artwork Delivery Deadline: Monday 26th May 2025
